Two of the North East’s longest established legal practices, James & George Collie and Kinnear & Falconer, who between them have been in business for more than 300 years, have announced a merger.
The move follows a four year association between the firms. Kinnear & Falconer will continue to trade under their name but as a division of James & George Collie.
Denis Daun, who has been at Kinnear & Falconer for 33 years, has become a consultant with the merged firm.
“The merger suits both firms and will give our clients access not only to a wider range of legal expertise but also financial services and advice.”
Tony Dawson, senior partner at James & George Collie said: “My firm is absolutely delighted with the merger. Denis will bring additional skills and experience to the practice. This is the latest of a series of mergers and acquisitions which have seen the firm continue to expand in a time of recession by acquiring the businesses not only of Kinnear & Falconer but also of Churchill and Co and the assumption of Brian Sutton as a Partner. This will assist the former partners of Kinnear & Falconer with their succession and will cement the reputation of James & George Collie as one of the leading full service legal firms in the North East of Scotland.”
