Susan was educated at Paisley Grammar School and Aberdeen University, where she was awarded a number of certificates of Distinction/Merit and the Williamson Fund prize for her performance in the Diploma in Legal Practice. She trained in the Central Belt before moving back to Aberdeen where she has practiced for more than 20 years. In that time, she has worked in various aspects of law but has concentrated on Civil Court Practice and in particular, Family Law. She has dealt with many different aspects of Family Law disputes and appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland. She has attended numerous court hearings in relation to complex financial disputes and child cases. She will often resolve difficulties between separated couples by way of meetings and negotiation and can deal with the matter collaboratively if appropriate.

Susan is a keen amateur classical musician and enjoys playing the piano and the violin in local orchestras. In addition, she enjoys playing tennis, golf and walking.
